MATERIALS MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING SCHEDULE & MINUTES

The Meetings of the Materials Management Committee for the County of Houghton will be held in the Conference Room on the fifth floor of the Houghton County Courthouse. All meetings will be at 10:30 a.m.

In the event of changes of dates for meetings, or any Special Meeting, the change or other meeting date will be posted, and if necessary advertised.

Building Demolition

Entire Building Demolition Job Rules
EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2020

• Asbestos Abatement Clearance letters and Survey must be given to Transfer Station manager 2-3 days prior to demo for landfill approval

• All customers must call ahead for schedule availability to dump once approved

• Building demolition debris is only accepted Tuesday through Thursday -- loads will not be accepted after 3:30 p.m.

• Only ONE demo accepted at a time with prior approval

• Availability to dump depends on capacity at the Materials Management Station

• No building demo jobs accepted the entire month of May

Failure to follow these rules will result in losing the privilege to bring building demolition to the Materials Management Station.

Any load turned away has the option to bring their demolition to K&W Landfill in Greenland.

Rates

Method of payment: Cash, check, or card

All trucks containing building materials will be weighed.

• Minimum scale fee: $7.00

• Rate per ton: $102.00

• Small bag (15 gallons): $1.50

• Medium bag (30 gallons): $2.00

• Over 30 gallons under 50 gallons (bag/small can): $2.50

• 50 gallons (bag/large can): $3.50

• Chair: $5.00

• Loveseat: $8.00

• Couch: $10.00

• Small mattress/box spring (each): $6.00

• Large mattress/box spring: $10.00

• Water heater, washer, dryer, stove (each): $10.00

• Small prepaid bag: 10 for $14.50*

• Medium prepaid bag: 10 for $19.50*

• Used oil collection center**

• Metal recycling**

• Cardboard recycling**

* Fast/Easy -- No need to pre-pay attendant before dumping, price includes cost of bag and garbage disposal.

** Metal, cardboard recycling and oil collection center open year-round. Fees may apply.

Items not accepted include:

Tires, batteries, paints/chemicals, yard waste, refrigerators/freezers.
